Ankle Sprains

Ankle sprains happen when the ligaments in the ankle are overstretched or torn — often due to a twist, fall, or sports injury. If you experience swelling, bruising, or an inability to bear weight, seek prompt evaluation to rule out fractures and promote faster healing.

Bunions

A bunion is a bony bump at the base of the big toe that forms when the toe pushes inward, typically due to narrow footwear or inherited foot structure. Bunions can be painful and may require orthotics or surgical correction.

Flat Feet

In people with flat feet, the arch collapses, causing the sole to touch the ground entirely. This can lead to muscle strain and misalignment. Symptoms range from mild discomfort to debilitating pain and can be addressed with custom orthotics and strengthening therapies.

Hammertoes

Hammertoes involve a downward bend at the middle joint of one or more toes. They often develop from wearing tight shoes or due to inherited biomechanics. Treatment ranges from shoe modifications to surgical correction.

Diabetes and Your Feet

Diabetes can lead to poor circulation and nerve damage, increasing the risk of ulcers, infections, and amputations. Regular diabetic foot screenings and early treatment of even minor cuts are critical for long-term foot health.

Heel Spurs

Heel spurs are calcium deposits that form on the underside of the heel bone. They may be painless or cause sharp heel pain, especially during walking. Treatment may include anti-inflammatory medication, orthotics, or in rare cases, surgery.

Corns

Corns and calluses form due to pressure and friction, usually on weight-bearing areas or spots where shoes rub. Corns between the toes (soft corns) can be particularly uncomfortable. Our podiatrists offer debridement and footwear advice to reduce recurrence.

Athlete’s Foot

Athlete’s foot is a contagious fungal infection that thrives in warm, moist environments like sweaty socks and locker rooms. Symptoms include itching, burning, and peeling between the toes. Proper hygiene and antifungal treatments can resolve most cases.
